• Club Round #5 and #6 – Results.

 

Competition Summary

 

Hi all,

 

Sunday 1st of August Rounds 5 and 6 were held and again we had great weather and even though sometimes on the small side, the waves were there.

Not as big turn out this time but being a good day with weather, the Derby on, rugby on night before, and the possibility of good surf out of Perth, is to be expected.

There were 26 competitors turn up so Round 5 had 6 heats, and most surfed in their divisions. The Old mal had 18 competitors so was done over 4 heats. After this Round 6 was run with 5 heats and this was mixed heats decided by placing’s from first lot of heats, ie the first went together, then seconds etc.

Score sheets and sample of wave scoring sheets are now on website.

This year there is only one heat to a round. Several reasons for this. Some don’t stay for the second lot of heats, some heats are mixed and some are in divisions, and as we are using the best 3 rounds for final score over the year so there will be more rounds to choose from.

Next competition is 29th August, and the final one is 3rd of October so we could end up having 10 rounds completed.

September having no contest scheduled we are looking at maybe having some sort of competition or social day on the 12th. Everyone will be advised of this at next comp or by email and website.

 

On competition day all are expected to be there at 7am as first heat will start at 7.30am.

• Club Round #3 and #4 – Results.

 

Competition Summary

 

Hi all,

 

We have now had two days of competitions and it was good that there were waves and offshore winds for most of the days.

Sunday 2nd May rounds 1 and 2 were run and it was a good turn out with 49 members competing in some good size waves for a change. There were 22 heats run on the day – 10 heats for 1st round with most surfing in age divisions, and 6 mixed heats for 2nd round. The Old Mal was popular with 26 competing in the 6 heats run.

Sunday 20th June I was away in Bali and Wayne oversaw proceedings and all seemed to run well, and great you had waves and good conditions again. There were 38 competitors this time and 21 heats run over the day. There were 9 heats for Round 3 with most surfing in age divisions, and 7 mixed heats for Round 4. Old Mal was again popular with 25 competitors over 5 heats.

Scores for all the rounds are on the website now. The final placing for the year in each division will be decided using the points from the best 3 rounds. The allocation of points is from the heat placing’s in each round. 1st is 2000 points. 2nd is 1720 points 3rd is 1460 points 4th is 1240 5th is 1220 and 6th is 1166. This was explained by Head Judge Norm Bateman in his email to all members at start of year, that we are following Surfing WA format this year.

Next week I will scan samples of wave score sheets, and heat placing sheets and have them put on website again so everyone can see how they scored in heats.

It is intended to have a night in the future where judging and wave scoring will be covered with the use of videos.

 

Next club competition is Sunday 1st August.
